12 POSTERS

12 months ago WE accepted the challenge to develop and manage a monthly event at the Grape Room in Manayunk, PA. 12 Months later the event is still going strong and picking up momentum! To say that this opportunity has been steeped in challenges would be a complete understatement. During this process we have gone though a series of band member modifications/replacements, a complete band re-branding effort around March, and an event re-brand not 1 or 2, but THREE TIMES!!

BUT each month we were expected to put on a show so we needed to develop a poster…

The poster had to be unique enough to distinguish between each monthly event, and branded at the same time so that it would become easily recognizable. IN THE MIX was born from a need to break free from any preconceived notions of what the band or event would bring to the table. It has also become our anthem  as we welcome new and eclectic artists into our ‘home’. More importantly – it has become our mantra to the musical synergy that takes place each and every first Thursday of the month in Manayunk.

ACE Mentor Program 2014

ACE Mentor Program Eastern Pennsylvania Names Tiffany Millner, AIA, NOMA, Director

In 2014 – Architect and longtime ACE volunteer tapped for Greater Philadelphia leadership position.

[Philadelphia, Pa.] The Eastern Pennsylvania Affiliate chapter of the national ACE Mentor Program has named architect and longtime ACE volunteer Tiffany Millner, AIA, NOMA, as the chapter’s new director. Millner assumed her role 06 October 2014.

“I will bring a fresh perspective to the position and organization,” explained Millner. “I’ve been in the trenches as a volunteer and have witnessed the pride and excitement of students proudly sharing ACE experiences in front of their peers, parents, and professionals. I look forward to bringing more exposure to the ACE Mentor Program and to impacting many more students.”

Millner will be responsible for administrative oversight for the Eastern Pennsylvania affiliate teams of ACE Mentor Program, encompassing nine Philadelphia teams and seven suburban teams at Chester, Norristown, Plymouth-Whitemarsh, Pottstown, and Souderton high schools. To date, the 2014-2015 academic-year program includes 268 students and 75 professional mentors.

Millner will support the network of volunteer professional mentors and build strategic alliances with regional members of the architecture, engineering, and construction community.

“Tiffany has built a strong resume of architectural experiences, and worked consistently to advance the field through education and diversity initiatives,” said ACE Eastern Pennsylvania Board Chairman Gregory Stewart. “Her familiarity with ACE, her enthusiasm for helping kids succeed, and her passion for making the profession more inclusive will serve our affiliate chapter well. We are thrilled that she has taken on this leadership role.”

A registered architect since 2009, Millner is a member of the American Institute of Architects and sits on its National Diversity Council. She holds membership in the National Organization of Minority Architects and its Philadelphia Chapter, for which she serves on the executive board. Millner has participated in ACE mentoring since 2007 as a volunteer, team leader, on the Mentoring Advisory Committee, and on the Young Mentors’ Committee. She has also participated as a mentor in the Architecture in Education program.

Millner also actively participates in discourse about diversity and inclusion, moderating AIA diversity discussions and publishing articles on the topics of women and minorities in design. In 2011, she published the book 200something to increase awareness of diversity initiatives.

After serving as project manager and architectural designer at JKR Partners, LLC, and VITETTA, Millner founded design consultancy AUX Collective, LLC, in 2010.

“AUX is short for Auxiliary and applies both to my company and my new ACE role,” explains Millner. “Passion is auxiliary to the arts. Without one, the other cannot exist. I plan to bring my passion to the ACE program to help shape the region’s future architects, engineers, and construction professionals.”
