I rarely talk about my work on this blog, but I guess it is time to start sharing.
This is a little project that has been on the boards since about 2006 or so. It’s one of those projects that has its moments of pure insanity, but you love it all the same. When I ‘tried’ to leave the firm in August – this was definitely one of the projects that I didn’t want to leave behind. It becomes a part of you and you are emotionally invested whether you like it or not. The developer is newer to the scene and has the ambition and the dedication to bring this project to fruition. He had the ultimate vision to start developing the Strawberry Mansion section of North Philadelphia – hoping to bring some new energy into the drab and mundane sea of abandoned building lining the streets.
It only takes (1) person with (1) vision and even after the heart ache, heart burn, and future heart attacks that this project will probably give me, I am honored to be a part of it.
Architecture as the catalyst for change. Awesome.
This project is currently slated to be complete at the end of April (I hope). I will keep you posted on the on-going construction process :)
