Sometimes you just need to take a step back to reevaluate how you REALLY feel about certain things…
AND At the end of the day…
Shakespeare’s gotta get paid, son.

I absolutely HATED this dead corner in my living room…
I have had so many ideas of what to do with this corner – but I am sick + tired of battling myself for the perfect solution.
For the interim, I found some paint and I purchased wall decals from Target.
That combination over my existing bland walls really made it POP.
(Side Note: I have a deeper respect for the more expensive painter’s tape…You pay for what you get.)

I rarely talk about my work on this blog, but I guess it is time to start sharing.
This is a little project that has been on the boards since about 2006 or so. It’s one of those projects that has its moments of pure insanity, but you love it all the same. When I ‘tried’ to leave the firm in August – this was definitely one of the projects that I didn’t want to leave behind. It becomes a part of you and you are emotionally invested whether you like it or not. The developer is newer to the scene and has the ambition and the dedication to bring this project to fruition. He had the ultimate vision to start developing the Strawberry Mansion section of North Philadelphia – hoping to bring some new energy into the drab and mundane sea of abandoned building lining the streets.
It only takes (1) person with (1) vision and even after the heart ache, heart burn, and future heart attacks that this project will probably give me, I am honored to be a part of it.
Architecture as the catalyst for change. Awesome.
This project is currently slated to be complete at the end of April (I hope). I will keep you posted on the on-going construction process :)
Designed through JKR Partners, LLC with Blake Krevolin.

As some of you may know, I do not like chocolate.
Ok – I can tolerate certain ‘fake’ chocolate items like:
- Hot Chocolate
- Ice Cream Sandwiches
- The occasional Twix or KitKat bar
I don’t know… It’s something about how it kinda tastes like coffee a little bit. I like a milder taste… But I guess that goes the same way with my coffee… I tend to prefer some coffee with my milk :)
BUT NOW – I have fallen hopelessly in LOVE with anything Red Velvet.
On New Year’s eve, I made these Red Velvet Whoopee Pies and they were a hit. This recipe is definitely a keeper.
Thank you Better Homes and Gardens!

Both my grandmother and my great grandmother were named Martha… And honestly – after the past couple of years I have had I think they are BOTH trying to tell me something.
I got married and then (2) months later I got a side job. What was I thinking??
Ugh.
All for the sake of networking and attempting to build my empire. And skills. And expressive talents.
But how the HELL did I think that I was going to build my empire – with no solid foundation??
Seriously, that’s Architecture 101.
[quote_left] This is the year to finally set myself free. [/quote_left] [quote_left] This is the year to finally dedicate to ME. [/quote_left]In the past couple of weeks, I have painted a mural in my living room | Made Red Velvet Whoopie Pies from scratch | Made Biscuits from scratch | washed everything that we own | started to plan my garden for this year |
A lot of energy has been re-directed into my space. MY PLACE and it really feels good to be home. + I know that my husband appreciates it.
